Why is the power LED flashing?
  • The modem is in shutdown mode
  • Ensure the standby signal is connected to greater than 9VDC
  • Ensure the supply voltage is greater than 9VDC.
  • Remember that the modem is designed to go into shutdown mode if the standby signal is off.
How can I verify the modem's network registration?
From the modem's embedded web pages, go to the Info page and view the following information:
  • Primary dBm
  • Secondary dBm
  • WAN IP is something other than 0.0.0.0
How do I determine the ESN/IMEI of the modem?
From the modem's embedded web pages, go to the Info page and view the ESN/IMEI information in decimal below the Modem ID field. Note that ESN/IMEI information is only supported on Sierra Wireless HSPA+, Sierra Wireless CDMA/EV-DO, and Wi-Fi data devices or modules.
How do I determine the cellular signal strength seen by the modem?
From the modem's embedded web server, go to the Status page and view the following information either Primary dBm or Secondary dBm:
  • -125: no signal
  • < -115: very low signal
  • -115 to -100: low signal
  • -100 to -81: fair signal
  • -80 to -76: good signal
  • > -75: excellent signal
Communication Issues
From a laptop connected through Ethernet, open a command prompt and confirm the following:
  • Ipconfig returns an IP address that is within the modem's subnet (typically 192.168.1.20)
  • Make sure ping worked to the modem's IP address (typically 192.168.1.1)
