TELUS Mobility Introduces Rugged Global Positioning System (GPS) Wireless Modems

Scarborough, Ontario (June 24, 2004) - TELUS Mobility today further solidified its position as Canada's wireless solutions leader for business with the launch of six new wireless data modems, including several models equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) capability, all operating on TELUS Mobility's national 1X wireless data network. The ruggedized devices are aimed at vertical applications such as oil and gas, field services, utilities, transportation and public safety.

"These new GPS data modems from Canadian companies Sierra Wireless and Cypress Solutions offer our clients on the road, in the field or in the plant the freedom of instant mobile connectivity to their offices, their co-workers or the world - and further extend our lineup of the broadest roster of rugged wireless data devices in Canada," said Robert Blumenthal, TELUS Mobility's Vice President of Products and Services.

With connectivity to a wide variety of computing devices and instant access to e-mail, the Internet, enterprise applications and database information, these modems allow clients to efficiently access mission-critical information in real time. GPS capability, coupled with service from an Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) provider such as TELUS Geomatics, enables companies to improve fleet dispatch and tracking, cutting downtime and increasing productivity.
