Benefits
- Reduce the need for site visits by technicians
- Remotely analyze irrigation operation data
- Remotely modify daily operations for efficient system usage
- Manage irrigation operations of several remote sites from a single central control computer
How It Works
An irrigation field controller monitors the digital and analog parameters of irrigation equipment and controls such equipment via control signals issued from a computer connected to it via a communication link (i.e. serial RS232 port).
The Chameleon Modem provides 24/7 remote wireless access to the Toro irrigation control equipment.
Technology
A Chameleon Modem is connected directly to a Toro Sentinel irrigation field controller via a serial RS232 link. The Chameleon Modem is configured in packet assembly and disassembly (PAD) mode to send serial port data from the field controller over the Internet, and vice-versa. The Toro Sentinel Central Software application is run on a central computer and communicates with the field controller over a high-speed wireless link via the modem’s IP address.
